Some of the steps required for a
Re-Fret
![]() The worn frets are lifted and removed with a special de-fretting plier |
Sorting block for the old, and later new frets |
The new fretwire is marked and cut to length |
![]() A special tang cutting tool is used to cut the fret tang for bound fretboards |

If necessary the tang is reworked (rare) |
![]() The fret grooves are cleaned before inserting the frets |

The frets are inserted and tapped in lightly |
And than pressed in with a flat fret caul |
The fret board is covered with a layer of wax to protect it from the glue |
Water thin "super glue" is run in |
The fret ends are filed flush |
And beveled to a 30-35 deg. angle |
Inspection |
The neck is replaced, the Banjo setup, and "test driven" |
